Russell's Bio:

Russell Whitney was born in Palm City, Florida. He earned his Associate's degree in Engineering Drafting and Design. While going to school he paid his way working in aquarium stores which lead him to start an Aquarium Chemical Manufacturer that he has operated for over 20 years. Russell is a family man and a great friend. One day his friend was going to culinary school and had to brew beer for her final exam. She asked him to help since she knew he enjoyed drinking quality beers. His love for water purification and chemistry led him to develop his beer making hobby into a passion. Russell has been brewing beer since 1991.

How the Brewery Got Started:

Julian and Russell met at an Orlando Reef Caretakers Association Club meeting in 2003. Their friendship has grown because they share a passion for good food and drink. In 2017, Russ helped a friend put the finishing touches on a new brewery in Etowah, North Carolina. While there he posted pictures online. Julian responded with, “When are we going to open a brewery?” After Julian asking several more times over the coming months, Russ realized Julian was serious. They sat down one day to make the plans and the rest is history. Julian and Russell’s friendship has blossomed into a solid partnership for Mac and Whitney Brewing.
